Meningeal hemangiopericytoma is a rare neoplasm arising from perivascular pericytes. Accounting for < 1% of all brain tumors, these neoplasms are characterized by a high local recurrence rate and metastatic potential. Meningeal hemangiopericytoma occur most frequently during the fifth decade of life, with an almost equal sex incidence.

Meningeal hemangiopericytomas are rare but aggressive tumors. All eight patients in this series developed recurrences, three with distant metastases. In six patients a lytic destructive lesion of bone was evident. CT scans in three patients demonstrated diffusely enhancing lesions. No tumor calcification was present. In five of six patients angiography was characterized by multiple irregular

Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are a rare group of spindle cell neoplasms that include fibrous-to-cellular SFTs and related lesions such as lipomatous hemangiopericytoma and giant cell angiofibroma . SFTs were first described as originating from the pleura [ 2 ] and occurring most commonly in the thoracic cavity [ 3 , 4 ], but it is now recognized that these rare tumors can occur throughout

Objective: Solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC) and meningioma exhibit similar radiographic features; however, they differ in their prognoses. . Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is a central nervous system tumor that arises from the pericytes of meningeal capillaries. 1 These tumors are more likely to occur in males, most commonly in the fourth or fifth decade. 1 Signs and symptoms at presentation may include headache, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, and photophobia. 4 Intraventricular HPC is rare and most often found in the lateral ventricles.
